Nineteen-year-old Dylan Emery won three of his seven matches at the inaugural World Snooker Tour Pro Series on Wednesday (March 10).

Emery, from Caerphilly, finished sixth in Group H, with the competition held behind closed doors in Milton Keynes.

Emery’s tournament started with a 2-0 defeat to England’s Ali Carter – who is ranked 24th in the world and would go on to top Group H.

The youngster responded with a 2-1 win over Hamim Hussain, before another 2-1 win over Kuldesh Johal.

A 2-1 defeat to Germany’s Simon Lichtenberg followed, before a 2-1 defeat to China’s Chang Bingyu.

Emery’s third win in the competition came in the following match – defeating world number 59 Tian Pengfei 2-1.

His final game ended in a 2-0 defeat to world number 54 Mark Davis, who finished second in the group to seal his place in the next round of the competition.

Emery, who is still an amateur, gained his place in the professional tournament after Morocco’s Amine Amiri withdrew.

The 19-year-old, who practices at the Aber and Senghenydd Ex-Servicemens Club, is aiming to achieve his dream of turning professional and earning a tour card.

He went into the Pro Series off the back of an appearance at the Gibraltar Open – which was also held in Milton Keynes due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

During that competition, Emery beat Ben Hancorn 4-0, before a narrow 4-3 loss to Lei Peifan in the Last 64.

Last month, he competed at the Welsh Open, which was held at the Celtic Manor Resort.

There, he beat the world number 33 – Lu Ning – 4-3 in the first round, but was beaten 4-1 in the second round by Joe Perry, who is ranked 19th in the world.
