Treharris’s Lloyd Daniels has bounced back on this week’s X-Factor after being slated by the TV talent show judges.

On Sunday night’s programme he was voted through to next week’s show by the public after being in the bottom two last week.

On Saturday night’s show the teenager, who had suffered from a sore throat last week, was heavily criticised by the show’s judges.

Despite a rousing finale by Wales, New Zealand increased their winning streak to 21 matches against Warren Gatland’s men at the Millennium Stadium in the opening game of the Invesco Perpetual Series.

It’s been 56 long and painful years since the men in black had their colours lowered by Wales and although Ryan Jones’s men gave it their best shot, New Zealand showed why they have carved out such an impressive record.

Members of the Royal British Legion, Islwyn Mp Don Touhig and Islwyn AM Irene James visited Pontllanfraith Primary School for a special Remembrance service assembly.

During the service poppy wreaths were laid on a school memorial. After the Last Post was played, the Royal British Legion Standard was dipped and the whole school observed a minute silence.

After the service the pupils were given the opportunity to talk to members of the Royal British Legion about their work.

Councillor John Evans, Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough, his deputy and other senior members from the council will be representing the council at a number of parades and services.
