Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band in Blackwood

Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band will be bringing rhythm to Blackwood Miners’ Institute that will cause more shaking tail feathers than John Belushi and Miley Cyrus combined.

The ten-piece group are one of the UK’s most authentic classic soul band with a repertoire ranging from James Brown to Louis Armstrong and Marvin Gaye.

There will be two hours of non- stop classic soul and Tamla Motown hits, led by outstanding singer Mike ‘Big Mac’ Macnamara.

This is big, brassy soul music at its finest, it’s enough to make anyone get up and dance.

The band feature members from across South Wales including Cliff Burge, from Risca on drums and Caerphilly’s Derek Wilkinson on the keyboard.

Dale Wilde, Liam McCafferty and Phil Coomer make up the Caerphilly County Borough contingent of the highly reviewed band.

In one review, The Stage said: “An explosive start to the evening was provided by Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band.

“This is the way to play soul and Motown-a full ten piece band, great brass section, girl backing singers, pulsating rhythm section and Big Mac himself on lead vocals-not only great musicianship but also a great performance.”

The band have released two live albums encompassing both their energy and talent on stage, creating a journey through 25 hit soul and motown tracks.

These can be bought from www. bigmacswhollysoulband.com where full details of the band, its history and members can be found.

Tickets for the show cost £12 in advance and £14 on the door from 7.30pm.
