A stretch of road between Deri and Bargoed will be closed for five weeks while drainage works are carried out.

Groes-Faen Terrace Road, up to the junction with Factory Road, closed on Monday, October 18.

It is expected to be closed for five weeks, with an additional weekend closure, before one week with a single lane closure.

The A469 and Factory Road will remain open during these works.

In a statement, Caerphilly County Borough Council said the drainage on Groes-Faen Terrace needs replacing “to prevent further ground deterioration”

The council added: “These are complex and deep excavation works and the only way these works can be undertaken safely is by means of a road closure. All other options have been considered prior to confirming the road closure as an agreed approach.”

Pedestrian access will be maintained “where practicable”, but the pedestrian diversion route will be along Bristol Terrace.

The main bus route will also be diverted while work is ongoing.
