Sirhowy Valley Crematorium will welcome local families to its first Christmas Carol and Remembrance Service, on Wednesday, December 15, at 7pm.

The service will take place at the Pontllanfraith crematorium’s chapel.

But for those who still feel uncomfortable about social gatherings – or who are not able to visit the chapel in person – there is the opportunity to watch a webcast of the service.

Sirhowy Valley Crematorium opened in January 2021.

Jon Deacon, Site Manager at Sirhowy Valley Crematorium, said: “Those who attend in person will be able to write special messages in honour of their lost loved ones and these labels will be hung on our Christmas Tree.

“We know that not everyone is able to attend in person. Some may have health or mobility issues, or simply live too far away and not have any transport, so we are webcasting the service, too, so that everyone can join in and remember their loved ones in the run up to Christmas.

“There will be refreshments available for those who do attend, and no advance booking is required.

“Attendees will also have the chance to write personalised messages in honour of loved ones onto memory tags which we will provide; these will then be used to decorate a Christmas tree within the chapel.”

Those who wish to view the service as a webcast should visit https://events.obitus.com/, enter the username ‘SirhowyValley’ (exactly as shown between the quotation marks) and the password ‘Tree’.
