Hefin David is the Labour Senedd Member for the Caerphilly constituency.

It’s been a wonderful few weeks being able to get out and about and meet people face to face again. It makes all the difference for me to be able to see and help residents in person. I will continue to conduct virtual meetings too as they allow me to speak with more people than when I’m travelling around, but if you have an issue and would prefer to have a chat in person I’d be very happy to do so.

This week I’ve been out to visit the Parish Trust in Trethomas, who have set up a shuttle bus service taking local people to the Grange and Gwent hospitals. I’m still working with Transport for Wales on a cross-valley service to the Grange and that is also coming very soon! But the Parish are running a very quick, cheap and convenient way for the people of Machen, Bedwas and Caerphilly areas to get to their hospital appointments and visits. If you’d like to use the service or find out more information you can call the team on 02921 880 212 (option 1) or visit the website: theparishtrust.org.uk/bus/.

I’ve also spent some time conducting a street surgery with the brilliant Morgan Jones ward councillors. We had a very warm reception and a productive session, speaking with residents of Kingsmead about issues important to them.

I also conducted my second surgery at Autistic Minds in Caerphilly town centre last week. As many know, my daughter is autistic; so to be able to support families affected directly is very important to me. I’ll be holding another session in the summer, so please contact the team if you’d like to be involved.

Looking forward, I’ll be visiting Caerphilly’s Citizens Advice team over the coming weeks, to discuss what they do and how they can support people during the increasingly concerning cost of living crisis.

This week in the Senedd I hope to raise the issue of post-pandemic dental treatment with the Minister for Health and Social Services, following numerous concerns from constituents. I will post updates to my Facebook page.

I will also be back for another Facebook live before Easter!

As always, please get in touch on Hefin.David@senedd.wales if you think I can help you.

Take care,

Hefin
