Caerphilly RFC U14s celebrate their trophy win in Frankfurt

Caerphilly RFC U14s took top spot in a competition in Germany earlier this month.

The side visited Frankfurt four years ago and upon their return won five matches in two days in order to lift the trophy.

Team manager Sarah Morgan spoke to Caerphilly Observer about their experience. She said: “The weekend was fantastic. It was refreshing to play teams from all over Europe.

“We were underdogs going into the final but the boys played great and we won 33-0 over home favourites SC 1880 Frankfurt.”

The team faced sides from across Germany, as well as the Czech Republic and France.

Sarah added: “The boys were over the moon to come away with the win.

“I was speaking to some of the other coaches and they all said that we played some of the best rugby they’d seen in a while.

“We never expected this, but it’s great for the club.”
