A free to enter fun-packed festival will take over the Owain Glyndwr Playing Fields on Crescent Road, Caerphilly, on Saturday June 11.

Ffiliffest is Menter Caerffili’s celebration of the Welsh language and of local Welsh culture.

Menter Caerffili is a charity aiming to promote and increase the use of the Welsh language on a community level within Caerphilly County Borough.

The event, which returns for the first time in two years, will include performances, entertainment, activities, workshops, food and drink stalls, as well as the chance to buy produce from local businesses.

Menter Caerffili has worked closely with Caerphilly County Borough Council, community groups and performers to plan the event – which is unique to the area.

Hundreds of local school children have been preparing and practising traditional Welsh folk dancing to stage the largest performance in the county as one of the highlights of the event.

This festival will be held between 11am and 7pm, with performances by multiple Welsh language musicians, as well as children from surrounding schools.

Bethan Jones-Ollerton of Menter Caerffili said: “At Ffiliffest, we welcome people of all ages to enjoy the Welsh language and culture in a fantastic setting.

This event provides opportunities for people to make contact with the language and to enjoy a variety of activities regardless of language ability. We are really excited to see this event grow year by year.”
