More than £150,000 has been raised for charity after 38 Snoopy sculptures, six of which appeared in and around Caerphilly town centre this spring, were auctioned.
The sculptures came to Caerphilly in early April as part of Dogs Trust’s ‘A Dogs Trail with Snoopy‘ campaign and were taken down earlier this month.
They were located at Caerphilly railway station, Cardiff Road, Dafydd Williams Park, Crescent Road, Morgan Jones Park and Castle Court Shopping Centre.
Sculptures were also seen dotted around Cardiff and Porthcawl as part of the campaign.
However, the campaign was marred by a spate of vandalism, with a number of sculptures in Caerphilly and further afield having to be removed from the trail while repairs were carried out.

The auction was held at the Coal Exchange in Cardiff on June 21 and hosted by auctioneer Charles Hanson, who has appeared on television programmes such as Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.
Anna Davies, Corporate Development Manager at Dogs Trust, said the charity was “thrilled” with the £156,000 raised and added: “Each year Dogs Trust looks after around 14,000 dogs and our rehoming centres in Bridgend and Cardiff play a big role in that.
“Thank you to those who bidded and gave a Snoopy sculpture a forever home at auction. It’s with your support that we can continue to find forever homes for more rescue dogs.”
Some of the sculptures were bought by bidders from as far away as Bangkok, Texas and Washington.

Meanwhile, many of the mini sculptures, which were decorated by school pupils from across Caerphilly County Borough and scattered across Caerphilly town centre, have been returned to the schools.
