More than 100 cannabis plants have been seized by police in Abercarn.

Gwent Police officers raided a property on High Street at around 3.40pm on Thursday, July 15.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: “During the search of the property, we uncovered a cannabis cultivation containing around 100 plants. This has since been dismantled and taken away to be destroyed.

“As our enquiries continue, we’d urge anyone who has any information around the production and supply of illegal drugs in our communities to get in touch.”

No arrests have yet been made.

Caerphilly Observer asked Gwent Police if this incident was in any way related to the £500,000 worth of cannabis seized in Aberbargoed on June 29.

A spokesperson said that the discoveries are “not thought to be related” as enquiries continue into both.

Gwent Police is appealing for anyone with information relating to this incident to contact them on 101, quoting log reference 2200235568.

You can also contact the force via social media on Facebook and Twitter and you can report any information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
