A rapid response vehicle was flipped on to its side after it was involved in a collision en route to an emergency in Risca.
Around 20 minutes before this incident, a person had been found badly-injured on a stretch of railway also in Risca.
British Transport Police officers were called at 12.44pm today, August 9, and initially reported that the man was dead at the scene.
In an updated statement the force said: “Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital for treatment to life-threatening injuries.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
Rapid response vehicle involved in collision
A rapid response vehicle, understood to have been on its way to an emergency, was flipped on to its side at around 1.05pm on Tredegar Street, Risca.
Gwent Police no injuries were reported.
It has not been confirmed if the rapid response vehicle was heading to the railway incident or to another emergency.
