Mourners gathered today at Eglwysilan Church, in Abertridwr, for the funeral of 34-year-old David Furness, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on October 3.

Mr Furness, 34, of Thomas Street, Abertridwr, who was known as Hovis, was killed in a smash on the A40 trunk road in Tafarn Newydd, Llandovery.

His funeral started at noon before the service moved on to the Glyntaff Crematorium, in Pontypridd.

Mr Furness was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on October 3 after his yellow Honda Fireblade motorbike was in a collision with a Ford Focus.

Three Facebook tribute groups have been set up in his honour with both attracting hundreds of tribute paying members.

A tribute concert has also been arranged by friends to be held at the RAOB Buffs Club in Abertridwr on November 12.

The family are asking mourners to give donations to the diabetes unit at the University Hospital Wales Cardiff and to the Association of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
