Bin collections are postponed, burials are to be rescheduled, and libraries will be closed due to the bank holiday.

On Monday, September 19 the Queen’s funeral is to take place and as a result the UK Government has announced a national bank holiday.

Bin collections across the county borough are delayed by one day, therefore everyone’s bins will be collected a day later than usual.

All recycling centres, schools, libraries, leisure centres, and council-owned cemeteries will be closed on Monday.

According to the council, burials planned for Monday will be rescheduled.

All attractions including Llancaiach Fawr, Blackwood Miners Institute, Cwmcarn Visitor Centre, Coffi Vista and The Winding House will be shut.

Council offices will be closed and the customer services line will also not be operating.

If you experience an emergency on the bank holiday you can call:

  • 01443 875500 for general emergencies.
  • 0800 328 4432 for social services related emergencies.

The Register Office is to remain open for pre-booked weddings and ceremonies only. If you have any urgent birth, death, marriage or civil partnership queries during this period please call 07771 886 895.

The revised bin collection arrangements are as follows:

Normal collection day -> Revised collection date

  • Monday, September 19 -> Tuesday, September 20
  • Tuesday, September 20 -> Wednesday, September 21
  • Wednesday, September 21 -> Thursday, September 22
  • Thursday, September 22 -> Friday, September 23
  • Friday, September 23 -> Saturday, September 24
