Police appeal after man dies in van crash

The crash happened on Vale View, Maesycwmmer

A 31-year-old man has died after a van crash in Maesycwmmer over the weekend.

Aled Angel, from the Cefn Hengoed area, was driving a white Renault Kangoo van, which crashed into a wall on Vale View.

The crash happened at around 1.15am on Saturday, October 1.

Paramedics attended the incident and Mr Angel was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where he died from his injuries.

Police have said his next of kin has been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: “We’re asking anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the Maesycwmmer area – particularly Main Road and Vale View – between 12am and 2am on Saturday, October 1, to contact us.”
