Jake Pickford's family are campaigning for better heart screening
Jake Pickford’s family are campaigning for better heart screening

The family of a young teen from Abertysswg who died suddenly because of an undiagnosed heart condition are holding a fundraising event on Saturday, November 19 in Abertysswg Working Men’s Club.

Jake Pickford, who was 16 and from Abertysswg, died in 2018 from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome and the event is in honour of Jake’s 21st birthday.

The event will raise money for the Jake Pickford Memorial Fund, which is connected to the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, which raises money for awareness, research and supporting families of those affected by cardiac conditions.

Jake was a keen footballer and the event will include an auction where a signed and framed Cardiff City FC shirt will be sold off. Other entertainment includes local singer Demi Leigh and a DJ.

Tickets are £5 and can be purchased at the club or by contacting Gaye Pickford on 07538434355.
