A cost-of-living newsletter was issued in October – an updated version will be sent out in March

Caerphilly County Borough Council is producing another cost-of-living newsletter to help residents access the help they are entitled to.

The cost-of-living Newsline newsletters were delivered to all Caerphilly borough residents in October 2022 and detailed information about accessing help with things like energy bills, employment, managing debts and budgeting.

The updated newsletters will be distributed to all Caerphilly County Borough residents in March 2023.

Cllr Sean Morgan, leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “The council has been doing all it can to offer advice, support and financial assistance to all those eligible for help through a variety of support packages over the winter months.

“However, the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite, but hopefully the impact will lessen as we enter the spring – particularly in relation to energy and heating bills.

“We have produced a second edition of our Cost-of-Living Newsline, which will be distributed to all households from March 13 to ensure residents are aware of the wide range of support they are entitled to during these difficult times.”

Help is out there

Speaking at the Darran Valley Community Council meeting on December 7 2022, councillors said the newsletter was a good way to see what people could qualify for.

Councillor Janet Gibbings, who represents Deri and Groesfaen, found that she was eligible for certain savings after reading the newsletter.

Cllr Robert Chapman, who represents Fochriw and Pentwyn also commented on the help that was available during the December meeting and said: “There’s a lot of people who think they can’t have that, they can’t have this.

“The help is out there,” Cllr Chapman added.

Help and advice can be accessed by contacting Caerphilly Cares on 01443 811490 or caerphillycares@caerphilly.gov.uk. Visit caerphilly.gov.uk/cost-of-living-support for more information.
