A 13-year-old boy who was left critically injured after being hit by a grit lorry earlier this month has been released from hospital, Gwent Police has confirmed.

The incident happened on the Lansbury Park Distributor Road at around 8.20am on Thursday March 9.

The grit lorry driver, a 36-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention.

He was later released by police under investigation.

The Lansbury Park Distributor Road between Bedwas Bridge roundabout and the turn-in into Rudry was closed for around 24 hours after the incident.

Safety measures need to be improved along road where teenager was hit by grit lorry, councillor says
