Caerphilly County Borough Council has been shortlisted for a national award for its work on asbestos standards and training.

The UKATA Excellence Awards are being held at the Radisson Blu hotel in East Midlands Airport on Friday July 7.

The council has been nominated for both the ‘Excellence in Innovation award’ and the ‘Workforce Development Award’.

The awards will be hosted by former athlete-turned-television personality Kriss Akabusi MBE.

Cllr Nigel George, the council’s cabinet member for corporate services and property, said: “Being shortlisted for the awards is testament to the team’s hard work and dedication. This is a fantastic achievement and I’d like to congratulate everyone involved.”
