28-year-old man dies after collision in Caerphilly

A 28-year-old man has died following a collision on the A468 between Trecenydd roundabout and Pwllypant roundabout.

Gwent Police are appealing for information about the crash, which happened at around 1am on Wednesday July 19 and involved a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and offered support.

It is the second fatality on the A468 in less than a fortnight.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called this morning shortly after 1am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and car in Energlyn, Caerphilly.

“We sent one emergency ambulance and one duty operational manager to the scene, where we were supported by pre-hospital immediate care specialists from MEDSERVE Wales and colleagues from the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service.”

The A468 was closed between the two roundabouts following the incident, reopening after 9am.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage to call them on 101 referencing log number 2300239513. Gwent Police can also contacted through direct message on Facebook and Twitter.
