Free swimming sessions in Caerphilly County Borough

Caerphilly County Borough is offering residents free swimming sessions at five of its pools this Friday. The sessions are available to residents of all ages.

Cllr Phil Bevan, cabinet member for education and leisure said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to have fun and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

“We are committed to ensuring there are activities taking place across county borough year-round to keep residents entertained and the free swim sessions provide yet another opportunity for family’s of all ages to make the most of their time together.”

To get the free session, residents must sign up to the council’s Smartcard scheme either at their pool or online at https://smartcard.caerphilly.gov.uk/smartconnect/app_initiate.asp

Caerphilly
12pm to 6pm

Newbridge
6pm to 8pm

Heolddu (Bargoed)
1.15pm to 2pm
4.30pm to 6.30pm

Risca
6pm to 7.45pm

Bedwas
5pm to 7.30pm

    But they cancel the Pr competition classes that keep youngsters in the sport for years to come keeping them healthy and fit!!!!!. This is nuts.

    The Plaid led council have no idea of what the people of the count want, or do they care????.

    You would have thought that the council would be encouraging the younger generation to stay fit and healthy instead they stop these lessons and introduce the free swim as long as they take out the smart card initiative!!!!!!

    How will this free swim be paid for, will there be another stealth tax like the increase in the burial services (death tax). Wil it be paid for by an increase in the smart cards, again another tax increase.

    If the Plaid led administration want to get more residents swimming, why don't they invest in the leisure centrex and update thses facilities, the public won't mind an increase in council tax if they can see the facilities they are getting are top quality, and at the moment the leisure centres in CCBC are far from that.

    Free swim initiative is a good idea, but not at the expense of an already established swimming programme that will take youngsters onto fitness and a healthier lifestyle. Get a grip CCBC
