Caerphilly County Borough Council has confirmed library staff are being supported after a 74-year-old man died in Ystrad Mynach Library last week.

Emergency services were called to the library on Friday September 29, where the man was pronounced dead.

A council spokesman said: “Staff at the facility supported the emergency services, but unfortunately the gentleman passed away.

“Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time and we are also supporting the library employees who were present.”

Gwent Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s next of kin have been informed.

A police spokesperson said: “A report has been submitted to the coroner in relation to the death.”

The Welsh Ambulance Service was also called to the library, on High Street, at around 3.48pm.
