Morrisons in Castle Court Shopping Centre in Caerphilly town centre

Two men were punched and forced to withdraw money from a cashpoint in Caerphilly last month, sparking a police appeal.

The incident happened outside Morrisons, at Castle Court Shopping Centre, on Saturday September 16.

The two men are said to have been approached by three men who demanded money from them, Gwent Police has said.

The victims were forced to withdraw money from the cashpoint at Morrisons. One of the victims, a 25-year-old man from Caerphilly, was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A 25-year-old man from Trethomas has been charged with two counts of robbery.

Gwent Police is investigating and wants to speak to anyone who was in the area between 3am and 3.30am on September 16.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage can contact Gwent Police on 101, or through direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2300314670.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
