After booking their places in the WRU Premiership Cup semi-finals last weekend, both Newbridge and Cross Keys switched their focus back to the league this weekend – with contrasting results.

Newbridge climb to fifth in the Premiership table after a 40-16 win over bottom-placed Newcastle Emlyn, but the Keys drop to ninth after a disappointing 40-9 loss away to Ystrad Rhondda.

Elsewhere in the Premiership, Bargoed bounced back from last weekend’s cup exit by beating Brecon 31-14 at home, and remain fourth in the table.

Down in the National Championship East, all three Caerphilly County Borough sides were victorious over the weekend.

Bedwas got the better of Talywain in a 50-41 thriller at the Bridgefield, while Ynysddu picked up their second league win of the season, edging Mountain Ash 36-33 at home.

Penallta meanwhile remain second in the table after a big 40-14 home win over lowly Brynmawr.

Over in Division 1 East, Nelson move up to third after a 38-27 win at Dowlais, but Senghenydd drop to seventh after a 40-13 loss away to Newport HSOB.

In Division 2 East, top-of-the-league Blackwood‘s 100% record continues with a 39-24 win away to Usk. However, on the opposite side of the table, Risca remain bottom of the league without a win after falling 24-18 to Garndiffaith.

One place above Risca is Abercarn, who suffered their fifth defeat in six league games after narrowly losing 26-25 away to Cwmbran.

Meanwhile, Caerphilly are still unbeaten in Division 2 East Central after they beat Taffs Well 36-5 away from home to maintain top spot in the table.

Down in League 3 East, Fleur de Lys suffered their first league defeat of the campaign, losing 15-7 away to Newport Saracens – but remain top of the table.

There was also a defeat for Machen, who lost 38-15 at New Panteg and drop to sixth.

Abertysswg Falcons‘ home clash with Caerleon was postponed, as was the all-Caerphilly County Borough clash between Rhymney and Oakdale.

But the picture was much rosier down in League 4 East, with wins for all three borough sides.

These included a first league win of the season for Pontllanfraith, who earned a slender 19-18 win at Forgeside.

Meanwhile, Crumlin smashed Whiteheads 59-19 away, with Bedwellty also victorious on the road – beating Bettws 33-26.

Dropping down a tier to Division 5 East, a single point was the difference as Hafodyrynys beat Hollybush 22-21.

Blackwood Stars also won on the weekend, beating Beaufort 22-17 at home.

However, unbeaten Deri have been dislodged from top spot in the table after their trip to West Mon was postponed. It means Tredegar Ironsides go top, three points ahead of Deri having played an extra game.

One team who remain top of their respective league however is New Tredegar, who lead Division 6 East A with four wins from four. They crushed Old Tylerian 62-10 on the weekend.

However, Trinant‘s trip to Cwmcarn United was postponed.

Finally, Bargoed Athletic continue to occupy the top spot in League 6 East Central, having recorded a 13-10 win at Brecon Athletic.

However, Penallta Athletic drop to seventh – one place from bottom – after losing 24-19 at second-place Cardiff Met Athletic.
