The two boys will appear in youth court in February

Two boys, one of which is from Caerphilly County Borough, are set to appear in youth court after a car was taken from an address in Ystrad Mynach last September.

Officers were called after a car – a Volvo XC90 – was taken from an address in Lewis Street on Monday September 30 at around 6pm.

That same day, there was a crash in Gelligaer involving six vehicles, one of them being a Volvo XC90.

One of the boys, a 15-year-old from the borough, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.

A Caldicot boy, then aged 14, was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage of £5,000 or more.

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using a motor vehicle on the road or public place without third party insurance.

Both boys were charged with these offences and were given conditional bail.

They will appear before Cwmbran Youth Court on Tuesday February 4.
