Wales coach Warren Gatland

Wales rugby coach Warren Gatland has named his squad for the upcoming Six Nations campaign, with his team looking to reverse a disappointing run of form.

Gatland’s men have lost their last 12 matches, with the last win coming against Georgia in the 2023 World Cup.

Since then, Wales finished rock bottom of last year’s Six Nations, and failed to win any of their summer or autumn international fixtures.

Included in this year’s Six Nations squad is Dragons hooker Elliot Dee, formerly of Penallta, Newbridge, Cross Keys, and Bedwas.

However, his Dragons teammate, former Risca winger Rio Dyer, has not been selected by Gatland.

Announcing his squad, the New Zealander said: “We’ve selected a squad that we feel has a good blend of exciting young talent and experience.

“This group of players has a huge amount of potential and we will be working incredibly hard together this campaign. The Six Nations is a special competition full of passion and some great rivalries and we have a good challenge to start the championship away in France.”

Gatland added: “As ever there are going to be some very disappointed players who have missed out on selection. The message to them is keep working hard because you never know what may happen.”

Wales’ Six Nations campaign kicks off in Paris on Friday January 31. It’s followed by a trip to Italy on Saturday February 8, before reigning champions Ireland are welcomed to the Principality Stadium two weeks later on February 22.

Wales take on Scotland at Murrayfield in their penultimate game on March 8, before facing fierce rivals England in the final match on March 15.
