Two men have been arrested after a series of early morning drug raids across Caerphilly County Borough – with more than 40 police officers deployed.

The raids were carried out on Tuesday March 11, with drugs, mobile phones, weighing scales and a “large quantity” of cash seized by police.

Addresses on Nelson’s Shingrig Road and Llanbradach’s Richmond Close were among those raided, as was an address on Wernddu Road, Caerphilly, and Heol Aneurin, Penyrheol.

Police also targeted an address in Senghenydd.

A 45-year-old man from the Caerphilly area was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of cocaine and a class B drug.

A 56-year-old man, also from Caerphilly, was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and an offensive weapon, and concealing criminal property.

Both men remain in custody as enquiries continue, Gwent Police confirmed.

PC Callum Evans, of Gwent Police, said: “We hope today’s warrants, as part of Operation Elston, show that input from residents makes a difference, so please continue to report your concerns to us.

“We welcome information we receive from the public because it provides a significant insight to what is happening first hand in our communities.

“Illegal drugs fill our communities with misery, suffering and fear and those involved prey upon the vulnerable in our society.”
