Plasyfelin School could be demolished and replaced with a brand new school
Plasyfelin School will be demolished and replaced with a brand new school

At the start of this year, plans were unveiled for a brand new school building to replace Caerphilly’s Plasyfelin Primary.

The existing school, in Churchill Park, is set to be demolished in phases to make way for the new 420-place primary, as well as a 60-place nursery.

But before any demolition begins, past pupils are being invited back to see the school for one last time.

An open morning is being held between 10am and noon on Friday April 11, with no prior booking required.

As well as a tour of the old building, visitors will be able to see photographs from the school’s past on display, along with plans for the new school development.

Councillor Shayne Cook, who represents the Morgan Jones ward where Plasyfelin is located, described the school as “much-loved and cherished by current and former pupils”.

He said: “The school has been a key part of the community for decades, with generations of families attending the school and forming lasting relationships.

“The plans for the new-build school, which will be located on the current primary school site, are exciting and will offer a first-class educational experience to pupils for decades to come.”
