A property in Bargoed could become a house in multiple occupation (HMO) if new plans are approved.

Applicant Craig Davies, of Newport-based Mainty Group Consulting Ltd, has applied for planning permission to convert the four-bedroom terraced property at 50 McDonnell Road into a HMO for five people.

HMOs are typically properties for individual, unrelated adults who have their own bedrooms but share other communal areas, such as kitchens or bathrooms.

According to planning documents submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council, the property in McDonnell Road is currently vacant.

The applicant has not reportedly consulted neighbours or the local community about the proposal, but has given notice to the property’s owner that the bid for planning permission was being submitted.

The application is currently out for a period of public consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 25/0344/COU.

HMO conversion gets thumbs up from council planners
