The council has backed proposals to turn a property into a care home

Two proposals to use a Cwmfelinfach property as a care home have been approved.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has given the thumbs up to both applications from Thomas Henry Property Investments Ltd.

One application sets out proposals to use the property as accommodation for two children and two carers.

A council planning report notes the carers would work on a 48-hour rota system, with a third carer also there “on rare occasions”, and the children would likely live at the property “in excess of 18 months”.

Planning officers judged there would be “no material change” in the use of the property under the children’s home plans.

Separately, the same applicant requested a certificate of lawfulness to use the property as a supported living home for up to three adults who have care needs, who would be cared for by one member of staff at a time, on a 12-hour rota system.

It was not specified in planning documents which use the applicant would proceed with.
