Proposals to turn a former club in Deri into a new family home have won the support of council planning officers.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has granted planning permission to convert The Old Club, in Bailey Street, into a single six-bedroom property.

The existing ground-floor bar, lounge and toilets will become a living room, dining room and kitchen – while the basement storage area will be transformed into a cinema, laundry room, and lounge.

On the first floor, four bedrooms and a bathroom will be created in a space previously used as a function room.

Two more bedrooms and a bathroom will be added in the attic space, designs show.

In a report, council planning officers noted there were no neighbour objections lodged during a recent consultation period.

They said the redevelopment comprised “minor” internal and external works, and each bedroom would have “adequate” outlook, light and privacy.
