An angry outburst from the public gallery was directed at two of the defendants charged with the murder of Abertridwr teenager Tristan Kerr as they appeared at Newport Magistrates’ Court.
A total of four people were in the dock on Monday, February 9, each charged with murder.
Connor Palfrey, 24, of Aberfawr Terrace, Abertridwr; Georgie Mears, 18, of Cardiff; Ricardo Elliot, 26, from London; and Elexi Manny, 24, of Commercial Street, Senghenydd, were all remanded in custody and will next appear at Cardiff Crown Court tomorrow, Tuesday, February 10.
No pleas were entered.
Elliot, wearing a grey tracksuit, and Mears, in a white T-shirt, appeared in the dock together. Elliot’s address was given by the court as Parc Prison, while Mears was listed as having no fixed abode.
After the judge had finished proceedings against them, a man sitting in the public gallery looked at the defendants and shouted, with a raised arm: “See you in Cardiff. A-wing, B-wing, you f***ing little rat.”
District Judge Toms directed the person to leave and then prevented any other family members from sitting in the public gallery for the hearing of Manny and Palfrey.

Manny, wearing a grey tracksuit, sobbed as she confirmed her address. Palfrey, also in a grey tracksuit, stood upright with his arms folded as he confirmed his Abertridwr address.
Police were called to Lower Francis Street, Abertridwr, at around 5.45pm on Thursday, February 5, following reports that a teenage boy had sustained a serious injury.
Tristan Shae Kerr, 17, was declared dead at the scene.
Gwent Police said a 28-year-old woman from Hereford, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has now been released under investigation.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Jitka Tomkova-Griffiths said: “We understand that there has been a great deal of interest in this investigation, however we would ask people not to speculate about the identities of those involved.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends.
“If anyone has any information, please speak to our officers or contact us in the usual way.”
