A business park in Nelson can be expanded to include 28 small and “flexible” units, councillors have decided.

Caerphilly Council planning committee’s decision, on Wednesday February 11, allows the construction of the new units for general business, storage or distribution uses at the Ty Du Business Park.

The development site covers two fields to the south of Whitebeam Court, near the A472.

Case officer Helen Winsall told the committee the proposed units would be two storeys and designed to be “flexible, if people wish to put a mezzanine in”.

The park at Ty Du was originally given planning permission solely for B1 business use, but the council is willing to diversify the new units by allowing storage and distribution – something Ms Winsall said could be attractive to potential tenants because of the nearby road links.

Decisions due on plans for dozens of new homes and business park
