A new track for bikes, scooters, and skateboards has been approved in revamp plans for a skate park in Nelson.

Caerphilly County Borough Council planning officers have backed a bid for a new ‘pumptrack’ featuring small hills and banked turns for skaters and riders.

They decided the new feature would complement the existing site’s sport and leisure uses and offer a wider range of uses.

Considering the impact on neighbours, the planners judged the pumptrack could be built “without unacceptable harm to the visual amenity of the area”, nor to nearby residents by way of noise or disturbance.

To prevent the track’s use in later hours, the officers added a condition to the planning permission preventing the installation of lighting at the site unless a new application is submitted.
