The by-election was called after Donna Cushing vacated her seat, following her election to the Senedd.

Ms Cushing, who spent nearly a decade representing the Hengoed ward, is now a Plaid Cymru MS for the Sir Fynwy Torfaen constituency.

The council by-election will be held on Thursday August 6, with polling stations open between 7am and 10pm.
