Passengers affected by train delays caused by cable theft can now report trackside criminals anonymously through a new hotline.
Transport for Wales (TfW) has launched the ‘TfW Protect’ service to reduce disruption across the rail network caused by metal thieves targeting infrastructure.
Cable theft damages signal systems, forcing operators to delay or cancel train services while emergency repairs take place across lines.
Members of the public can report suspicious activity, names, vehicle descriptions, or specific locations – including what3words references for remote trackside locations.
Josh Hopkins, head of security at TfW, said: “This type of crime has a real impact on our customers and communities, and the information people provide plays an important role in helping us protect the network.”
Suspicious activity can be reported anonymously by calling 0800 756 3477 or online at TfWProtect.co.uk.
