Rudry Village Hall in final of community competition

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Friday June 24th, 2011.

Rudry Village Hall has made it through to the final of a community competition run by waste firm Biffa.

The ‘Biffawards’ recognises the hard work and dedication of the people behind the projects the waste company has helped to fund.

Last year Rudry Village Hall was able to install a geothermal heating system courtesy of a grant from the company.

The hall’s management hopes to fund further improvements to its heating system with a solar panel system to provide electricity for the heating pump if it wins the £2,000 Biffaward this year.

Caerphilly’s Labour AM Jeff Cuthbert said the village hall’s success as a meeting point for several local groups has been welcome news for the area.

He said: “I wish Rudry Village Hall the best of luck for the next round of the Biffa competition and continuing successes with its position as a multi-faceted community building.”
