
A six-year-old girl has won herself and her family 12 months leisure centre membership after becoming the 50,000th person to sign up for a council “Smart Card”.
Mischa Smith, from Tredegar, became the owner of the 50,000th card to be issued by Caerphilly County Borough Council when she visited Heolddu Leisure Centre in Bargoed.
The electronic cards have been rolled out by the local authority to replace library cards and leisure centre cards.
They allow people access to library resources and entry to leisure centres.

Councillor Phil Bevan, cabinet member for education and leisure, said: “Congratulations to Mischa for being our 50,000th Smart Card member.
“It’s fantastic to hear that so many people have signed up to the scheme in the last two years and I hope that many more will follow in Misha’s footsteps and access our leisure and library services in the swipe of a card.
