McDonald’s in Blackwood to open from 6am

A fast food restaurant in Blackwood wants permission to start serving breakfast at 6am.

McDonald’s, in Cliff Road, will be able to serve food between 6am and 11pm if planning permission is given by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The restaurant has already been opening early doors since October last year after it was granted temporary permission to open at 5am for 12 months. It now wants to make this permanent.

A spokesman for McDonald’s said: “Having listened to the local community we agreed that this wasn’t currently appropriate and we began a very successful trial of early opening for breakfast.

“This trial planning permission is now drawing to an end, so we’re applying for identical full planning permission so that we can continue to operate the same opening hours as present, 6am and 11pm every day.”

While the chain is seeking permission to open from as early as 5am, it has stated it would only be opening from 6am daily.
