ItalianVisitorsA group of Italian council officials has visited Caerphilly to learn the secrets of successful town centre development.

Nineteen town centre managers from the Tuscan region of Italy visited the town as part of a UK tour organised by the Association of Town Centre Management.

The group met Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration and Andrew Highway, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s town centre manager, at Tredomen Park in Ystrad Mynach before heading to Caerphilly.

Cllr Ron Davies said:”We were delighted to host this visit and have the opportunity to forge new links with colleagues in Europe. I’m sure that we will all benefit from our shared experiences in the successful management of town centres in the future.”

The council’s approach to town centre management has been widely praised throughout the UK.
