A bicycle and road safety event for children is being held next month.

Organised by Gwent Police, Communities First and Caerphilly County Borough Council, the free event is being held at Penallta Park, Ystrad Mynach on Tuesday August 11 at 10am.

Youngsters aged between 10 and 18 can bring their bikes to get them security marked before learning about bike road safety.

Sandra Hardacre, chairwoman of the Cefn Hengoed and Hengoed Communities First Partnership, said: “The Cefn Hengoed and Hengoed Partnership is very pleased to be involved with this initiative.

“We have a very big focus on providing activities for young people in the villages and hope that this day can lead on to further projects. We actively encourage young people to come along and enjoy this great community fun event.”

There is no need to register before the day but those taking part need to bring their bikes, cycle helmet and a packed lunch. A cycle helmet will be provided to people without one.
