Woman bailed after Blackwood man’s death

A woman arrested after a Blackwood man’s body was found near a river has been bailed by police pending further inquiries.

The 42-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the death of 34-year-old father-of-three Jonathan Lee Bodman.

Mr Bodman’s body was found near the Rhymney river in Pengam on Friday by police who had been called.

His family have paid tribute to him.

In a statement they said: “The death of our son Jonathan who has left behind three children, a brother, a sister, mother, father, aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews has devastated our close family.
“We ask that we be given time and left in peace to grieve the loss of our beloved son.”

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the the area surrounding Tucker’s Rock, which is near the public footpath off River Terrace, between 3.45pm and 5.20pm on Friday.

The woman was bailed by police on Sunday.
