Safer Caerphilly Volunteer Network meeting

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Thursday February 17th, 2011.

A network of dedicated volunteers will meet next week to discuss how they can help make Caerphilly County Borough a safer place.

The Safer Caerphilly Volunteer Network, which comprises more than 200 volunteers, will meet with council, police and fire service officials to discuss how they can continue to play a key role in helping to tackle crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour.

The event will take place on Monday February 21 at Caerphilly County Borough Council’s headquarters Penallta House, from 5.45pm until 8pm.

The focus of the meeting will be to highlight how members of the Safer Caerphilly Volunteer Network can get involved in a special project aimed at tackling deliberate grass fire setting over the forthcoming Easter holidays.

Cllr Rob Gough, cabinet member for public protection, engineering and transport said: “Our growing network of dedicated volunteers enable organisations including the council, police and fire service are able to tap into our volunteers’ detailed local knowledge and focus on tackling the issues that really matter in local communities.

“I would encourage anyone who is interested in joining this ever-growing family of volunteers to come along and find out more”.

The Safer Caerphilly Volunteer Network acts as a direct link between public bodies such as the police and the communities they serve.
