Post Office across Caerphilly County Borough will soon be able to accept payments for council bills.
Proposals for residents to pay their council tax at Post Offices via Paypoint have been accepted by Caerphilly Council’s cabinet.
Cllr Colin Mann, deputy leader and cabinet member for corporate finance and sustainability said: “We have carried out an extensive consultation with councillors, staff and the wider community about the future of these services and this solution has been the most popular. It will support the local post offices and make it much easier for people to deal with council bills.
“The report agreed sets out a series of efficiencies and service improvements which will bring our customer services closer to the residents whilst still saving money.”
The decision to allow payment at Post Offices follows dropped plans to close six of seven council cash offices to save £2m.
