Caerphilly Council’s business advice service to tour industrial estates

A local entrepreneur is encouraging businesses to get in touch with Caerphilly Country Borough Council’s Advisory Services team to take advantage of potential grant funding.

Martyn Fear, managing director of Specialist Precast Products, came along to an Advisory Services Roadshow back in June, where he applied for funding to support the purchase of a new forklift truck.

The Advisory Services team will shortly be hitting the road again, visiting industrial estates across the county borough.

Mr Fear said: “The forms were really simple to complete and we were very pleased with the speed that our application was turned around. It was a matter of days, not weeks before we had a decision to proceed with the purchase of the new equipment”.

Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration and planning said: “We are delighted that Specialist Precast Products have taken advantage of the funding available. A number of other eligible businesses have also completed their applications for funding as a result of the roadshows in the Caerphilly Basin. It is pleasing to see that businesses are continuing with their expansion programmes.”

Last week the council revealed that a record £143,000 was handed out to Caerphilly businesses during August in the form of European Union backed grants.
