Talented young musicians will once again be competing to be named Caerphilly County Borough Schools’ Young Musician of the Year.
The event, organised by Caerphilly County Borough’s Music Service, will see 175 hopefuls show off their talents before judges at Blackwood Miners’ Institute this Saturday.
Judges will assess the youngsters’ performances during the preliminary stages and the winners in each of the six classes – Piano, Singing, Strings, Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion – will then fight it out for the hotly contested overall Young Musician of the Year 2010 title during the evening’s Grand Final starting at 7.30pm.
Winners in each category get a £50 prize and the overall winner gets the trophy and a £150 prize.
The prizewinners’ schools will receive matching cash prizes and the winner of the Composition Class will become the Young Composer of the Year 2010.
Admission to the event is free during the day and £3 for the Grand Final.
Tickets are available from Blackwood Miners’ Box Office on 01495 227206.
