Youngsters had plenty to do to fill their recent half-term break, when a youth community centre was turned into a BMX park.

Sport Caerphilly teamed up with Community Focused Schools (CFS) to turn The Hangar Youth and Community Centre in Aberbargoed into a BMX park.

More than 40 BMX enthusiasts from Lewis School, Pengam and Rhymney Comprehensive attended the free sessions.

Councillor Phil Bevan, cabinet member for education and leisure said: “I am pleased that the young people enjoyed the BMX activity recently, which gave them an excellent opportunity to use their spare time in a positive way.

“At the same time, the activity also helped to promote the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle, and I am full of praise for schemes such as this.”
