Hengoed man killed in road crash with car transporter

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 10:39, Saturday August 15th, 2009.

A 27-year-old Hengoed man has been killed after the van he was driving was in a crash with an articulated car transporter lorry.

The man, who has not been named, was driving along the B4265 in St Athan, Vale of Glamorgan, on Friday when the accident happened at 12.50pm.

The road was closed off by South Wales Police as they investigated.

The 43-year-old driver of the car lorry, who is from Gloucester, has been assisting officers with their enquiries.

South Wales Police said the articulated car transporter was heading east at time of the collision and the small Vauxhall van the Hengoed man was travelling in the opposite direction.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision or the driving of the two vehicles before the crash.

Anyone with information should contact South Wales Police on 101.
