The sun was shining in Cefn Hengoed on Wednesday when TV weatherman Derek Brockway visited Derwendeg Primary School to talk to pupils about the wonders of our weather.

The popular BBC presenter met children from Class 6 and Class 7 who are currently learning about all aspects of the weather as part of their studies.

Headteacher Lorraine Hunter said: “We were delighted that Derek took time out from his busy schedule to visit the school. His presentation was really interesting and helped bring the subject to life.”

Jack Pugh, aged 10, said: “I’ve seen Derek presenting the weather so it was great to see him in real life and he was really nice too. We have been learning all about the weather over the last few weeks and he helped us understand things like why it rains and how the weather changes throughout the year.”
