Jeff Cuthbert AM welcomed members of the Caerphilly branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Support Group to the Welsh Assembly last week to mark Parkinson’s Awareness Week 2010.

Mr Cuthbert is president of the group this year and met members when they visited the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay.

A Parkinson’s UK reception was then held in the evening which Mr Cuthbert opened by saying a few words.

The Labour AM said: “As chair of the Welsh Assembly’s cross-party group on healthy living, I was particularly happy to welcome the Caerphilly Branch Parkinson’s Disease Support Group to the Senedd for a visit.

“These people provide such a vital role in our community, and often their work can be under-appreciated.

“However, we must always remember the important part that such support groups play in representing the interests of those with long-term conditions.”
