News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:21, Thursday April 29th, 2010.

Police are appealing for information after an assault in Bargoed High Street left a woman in hospital for 12 days.

At 4.40pm on Monday March 1, a 41-year-old woman was attacked by two other women.

Gwent Police said there had been a verbal exchange between the two groups in the CK Food store prior to the attack.

When the groups left the store, the attack took place leaving the victim with serious injuries and as a result spent 12 days in the Prince Charles hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

The first woman attacker was said to be white, between 16 and 17-years-old, 5ft 2in to 5ft 4in tall, of a small build, with short bobbed brown-black hair, and wearing heavy make-up.

The second was white, again between 16 and 17-years-old, 5ft 4in to 5ft 5in tall, of a medium build, with long dark brown hair past her shoulders and wearing heavy make-up.

She was possibly wearing blue tracksuit bottoms and either a dark coloured or white top.

Anyone with any information about the assault should contact Gwent Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
